We first began to recognize a challenge with enjoying matcha in the midst of a busy day.High-quality matcha is often only available at specialty tea shops, and not easily found in everyday life. Moreover, the traditional way of drinking matcha is deeply connected to the art, the beauty of the tools, and the ritual that brings serenity to the experience.

At Niratcha, we envisioned a new way—researching and developing a matcha tablet in collaboration with government agencies and university professors. Our goal: to create a form of matcha that could be enjoyed anywhere, anytime, without losing its essence.

However, the early prototypes revealed a challenge—the matcha tablets did not dissolve as smoothly as we had hoped. This pushed us to dive deeper, gathering knowledge from multiple sources and exploring new approaches. Through this journey, we discovered that no one had truly achieved this before. That realization became both our inspiration and our greatest challenge—one that drives us to keep moving forward.

What Are Matcha Tablets?

Matcha tablets are compact, easy-to-dissolve made from concentrated matcha powder. They provide all the benefits of traditional matcha tea but in a more convenient form. Each tablet contains a specific amount of matcha, allowing you to easily control your intake.

Sourcing the finest matcha from Japan

During our research and development, we visited multiple Tencha farms across Japan, carefully selecting tea leaves that would become the foundation of Niratcha—matcha with a fragrant aroma, balanced taste, gentle bitterness that fades quickly, and the complex flavor profile of true ceremonial-grade matcha.

The journey to find the perfect source was not without challenges. Matcha is highly seasonal, harvested only during specific times of the year, and the finest leaves must come from the first harvest. This scarcity meant that farmers often reserved their supply for long-standing partners, leaving little room for newcomers. To overcome this, we sought assistance from the Thai Ministry of Commerce in Japan, who helped us connect with trusted farms—an essential step in building the foundation for niratcha.

Innovating portability: the matcha tablet dispenser

Another challenge was how to bring matcha into modern daily life without losing its artistry. We envisioned a portable way to carry matcha tablets—designed not only for convenience but also with elegance, ensuring that the artistry of tea remains at the heart of the experience. This innovation became a new expression of matcha for those who cherish both tradition and modern lifestyle.

Success: creating a smooth-dissolving matcha tablet

After years of trials, research, and setbacks, our efforts finally bore fruit. With the support of DSKH experts, we achieved what no one had done before: a matcha tablet that dissolves smoothly in water, preserving the integrity of authentic ceremonial matcha.

What once felt like an impossible challenge became our proudest accomplishment. The years of dedication, perseverance, and passion have led to this moment—the official unveiling of our long-awaited creation.
